SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's track and field teams opened their 2019 outdoor campaigns at Susquehanna's Jim Taylor Invitational on Saturday, March 30.

In case anyone had forgotten, two-time all-American Cameron Yon reminded those in attendance that he's one of the best athletes in the nation when he won the discus throw in dominant fashion. The senior set a new PR with a top mark of 56.27 meters; a number good enough to rank him first in the country by nearly four meters.

Fellow senior Jalil Clayton also impressed, winning both hurdle events. His time of 14.97 in the 110m hurdles currently ranks 13th in NCAA Division III, while his effort of 55.24 in the 400m hurdles is good enough to currently rank him 14th in the nation. Fellow hurdler Shammah Gahomera came home eighth in the 110m hurdles.

Alex White was strong in his first outdoor outing, finishing as the runner up in the long jump with a leap of 6.85 meters. Dominick Hogans had a nice day as well, finishing third out of 71 total competitors in the 200m dash with a run of 22.52 seconds, while Kadeem Willis earned a 12th-place finish in the 400m dash. The pair joined Clayton and Cole Hovis to earn an eighth-place finish in the 4x400m relay.

On the women's side, Rae Rae Taylor showed off the versatility that made her so successful during indoor season. The sophomore earned a third-place finish in the 400m dash thanks to a time of 59.97 second and another third-place finish in the 100m hurdles with a scamper of 16.07 seconds. She also earned a top-10 finish in the javelin throw, as her top toss of 35.62 meters is tops among Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) competitors.

Fellow sophomore Sarah Lehman picked up a top-10 finish in the long jump, Sephora Senestant was in action in both the 400m dash and the 400m hurdles, earning a 10th-place finish in the latter, and Rachale Hair represented the Blue & White in both the discus and hammer throws.

The Lions return to action next weekend at the Millersville Metrics event on Saturday, April 6.
