Six Track & Field Athletes Earn USTFCCCA All-Region Honors

NEW ORLEANS – A total of six Penn State Harrisburg men's and women's track & field athletes have earned NCAA Division III All-Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

On the men's side, seniors Jalil Clayton and Cameron Yon joined junior Alex White as USTFCCCA All-Mideast Region performers. Clayton earned his recognition in the 60m hurdles and was the top regional performer in the event. Yon was honored for his efforts in the weight throw and White was recognized for his high jump performance. Earlier this season, Clayton won Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Championships in the 60m hurdles, while White won the CAC Title in the high jump.

The women's squad saw sophomores Sarah Lehman and Rae Rae Taylor joined by freshman Aiyala McPhee in being recognized as USTFCCCA All-Mideast Region athletes. Lehman was honored for her stellar efforts in the triple jump that included the 21st-best mark in the nation, while Taylor was recognized for her performance in the pentathlon. McPhee burst onto the scene and picked up all-region honors in the 60m dash. Taylor won the ECAC Championship in the pentathlon after clinching CAC Titles in both the long and triple jump events.

Clayton and Taylor will compete at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 8-9 in Boston, Mass. Clayton will run the men's 60m hurdles and Taylor will take part in the women's pentathlon. Thanks to their stellar efforts this past season, both competitors earned their respective CAC Men's and Women's Indoor Athlete of the Year Awards.

The top five individuals in each event from each region earned all-region recognition, in addition to each member of the region's top three relay teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, Great Lakes, Mideast, Midwest, New England, South/Southeast and West – match those used during the cross country season.
