Clayton Earns CAC Weekly Honor

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Thanks to his outstanding efforts in the first meet of the 2018-19 season, Penn State Harrisburg track & field athlete Jalil Clayton has been named the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Men's Track Athlete of the Week.

 

The sprinter/hurdler wasted no time in impressing to begin his senior campaign, posting a new program record thanks to a blistering time of 8.18 seconds in the 60m hurdles at Susquehanna's River Hawk Open on Friday, Nov. 30. His time bested his previous career mark of 8.27 and currently ranks him second in the nation in the event, just .01 seconds off the best effort of the year. He also helped lead the Blue & White's 4x400m relay team to victory over squads from Stevenson, Susquehanna and Scranton thanks to a strong opening leg.

 

Clayton and the rest of the Lions will get an extended break to enjoy the holiday season before returning to action at St. Thomas Aquinas' Spartan Invitational on Friday, Jan. 11.
