Five Golfers Earn All-Conference Honors, Jackson Named COTY

WILLINGBORO, N.J. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's golf team wrapped up the 2022 campaign on the final day of the United East Championships at Rancocas Golf Club on Sunday, April 24. The Lions finished as the conference runners-up, Malcolm Jackson was named the United East Coach of the Year, and all five golfers earned all-conference recognition.

Despite shaving five strokes off the deficit on the second day of the event, the Blue & White finished seven strokes behind the conference champions from Rosemont. All five Penn State Harrisburg competitors earned top-10 finishes and the Lions were the only team to have every competitor secure all-conference recognition.

Individually, Matthew Redman earned a share of the runner-up spot thanks to his two-day score of 154 (+12). For his efforts, he secured a spot on the United East All-Conference First Team.

Joshua Africa, Andrew Fink, and Ian Martin all shot two-day 164s (+22); an effort strong enough to clinch a share of seventh-place and earn them United East All-Conference Second-Team honors. Tiger Xu was the fifth Penn State Harrisburg golfer to pick up an all-conference nod, as his effort of 166 (+24) secured a share of 10th place.

In his first year back at the helm, Jackson becomes the program's first coach in a decade to earn the coach of the year moniker, while the five all-conference accolades are the most ever in a single season for the Lions.
