Men's Golf Takes Team Title at Penn State Division III Challenge

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's golf team was victorious over five other competing squads at the two-day Penn State Division III Challenge held at Penn State University's Blue and White Courses over the weekend.

The victory is Penn State Harrisburg's second of the season after the Lions took home the team trophy at the Rutgers-Camden Scarlet Raptor Fall Invitational in October.

During their most-recent win, the Lions shot a two-day total of 631 (319, 312), +59 to win the team title by 13 strokes over the runners-up from Penn State Abington. The Blue & White were led by Joshua Africa, whose two-day 152 (77, 75), +9 was strong enough to secure him a share of second place out of 37 total competitors.

Matthew Redman also had a strong weekend and rose five spots on Sunday to fifth overall after sitting 10th following Saturday's round. He shot a two-day 156 (80, 76), +13 to earn his top-five finish.

Reigning United East Golfer of the Week Tiger Xu was the team's third golfer to secure top-10 finish, as his combined effort of 161 (81, 80), +18 was good enough for a share of ninth overall. Andrew Fink finished in a tie for 16th thanks to his 163 (82, 81), +20, while Ian Martin's 164 (81, 83), +21 was good for 19th.

Sean Cudahy and Josh Swartz rounded out the Penn State Harrisburg competitors, with Cudahy earning a 21st-place finish and Swartz finishing right behind him with a share of 22nd.

The Lions are next scheduled for action at the Husky Invitational hosted by Bloomsbury University at the Golf Course at Frosty Valley in Danville, Pa. on Thursday, April 14.
