Redman, Xu Lead the Way for Men's Golf at PSU

STATE COLLEGE, Pa.Matthew Redman and Tiger Xu led the way for Penn State Harrisburg men's golf at the Penn State Division III Challenge at Toftrees Resort on Wednesday afternoon, April 7.

 

The pair of freshmen finished second and third, respectively, with Redman posting a 76 (+4) and Xu shooting a 77 (+5). Redman competed in a playoff with Penn State Altoona's Andrew Ferguson before eventually earning the runner-up spot. As a team, the Lions secured a second-place finish thanks to a score of 320 (+32), just two strokes off the mark of the victors from Penn State Altoona.

 

Ian Martin nearly broke 80 on the day and his 81 (+9) was good enough to earn him a share of eighth place overall. Joshua Africa finished right behind his teammate, as his 82 (+10) secured him a share of 10th place. Andrew Fink and Josh Swartz completed the Penn State Harrisburg group of competitors, with Fink carding an 86 (+14) and Swartz shooting an 89 (+17).

 

After competing twice in three days this week, the Blue & White will get three days to prepare before returning to action at the Susquehanna Spring Invitational in Selinsgrove on Sunday afternoon, April 11.
