Men's Basketball Suffers Setback to Del Val

Men's Basketball Suffers Setback to Del Val

ANNVILLE, Pa. - A valiant comeback effort fell just short for Penn State Harrisburg's men's basketball team in a 71-65 setback to Delaware Valley in the championship game of Lebanon Valley's Rinso Marquette Tournament on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 13.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Turnovers and fouls plagued Penn State Harrisburg (3-1) in the team's narrow loss to Del Val (2-2) at LVC's Sorrentino Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. The Lions fell into a 17-point hole before rallying to cut the deficit to four in the closing moments. Ultimately, the team's final push proved too little too late. Zegary Scott III led the way with 15 points, while Dylan Daniels posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Lions trailed by 16 points with 4:19 left to play but began a suffocating full-court press that proved difficult for the Aggies to break in the final minutes. Penn State Harrisburg forced five turnovers down the stretch and cut the 66-50 deficit to 69-65 with less than a minute left. The Blue & White were unable to make it a one-possession game, however, and Del Val managed to escape with the narrow victory.

After trailing by five at the break, the Lions scored six in a row to begin the second half to pull ahead 31-30 at the 18:48 mark. Fouls proved costly, however, as Delaware Valley was in the double bonus midway through the second half. That foul disparity allowed the Aggies to build their double-digit lead that Penn State Harrisburg would eventually cut into but not overcome.
