How It Happened

Penn State Harrisburg handed previously unbeaten Haverford its first loss of the season with a 76-71 decision at the Capital Union Building on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 16.

The Lions (3-1) were led by Donyae Baylor-Carroll's 25 points, while Dylan Daniels notched his first double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Nate Curry was the third player to reach the double-digit scoring mark, netting 10 points off the bench.

The Blue & White jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the early going but Haverford (2-1) answered back with an 8-0 run to keep things from getting out of hand too quickly. The visitors eventually pulled ahead by as many as six points but the Lions responded with a pivotal 15-3 spurt capped by a Kalonji Parker layup that put the home team out in front 26-20 with 3:43 left until halftime.

Things remained tight after the break but Penn State Harrisburg created some breathing room thanks to back-to-back 3-balls from Parker and Baylor Carroll, as well as a Zegary Scott III layup that pushed the advantage to 53-44 with 12:33 left to play.

Baylor-Carroll knocked down two more jumpers from beyond the arc to keep the Fords at bay and the Blue & White stretched the lead to double digits for the first time when Daniels' layup at the 5:44 mark made it 67-57.

Trailing by eight with less than two minutes remaining, Haverford pulled to within three on two separate occasions down the stretch but Daniels and Baylor-Carroll converted clutch free throws in crunch time to hold off the visitors and seal the victory.

Inside the Numbers

- The Lions shot 47.4 percent from the field. Haverford managed a 40.3 percent clip from the floor.

- The Blue & White shot 52.9 percent from 3-point territory and 86.7 percent from the charity stripe.

- Penn State Harrisburg won the battle on the glass 42-to-29.

- Donyae Baylor-Carroll scored a game-high 25 points, including six 3-pointers, and added five assists and five rebounds.

- Dylan Daniels netted 15, pulled down 12 boards and blocked six shots.

- Nate Curry added 10 points and six rebounds off the bench.

- Zegary Scott III tallied seven points, four assists and three boards.

- Chris Haynes scored seven points and had three rebounds and three assists.

- Pedro Rodriguez grabbed seven boards to go along with four points, two steals and a block.

- Kalonji Parker chipped in with eight points and two assists in a reserve role.

- Jesse Turkson and Joe Wujciak led the way for the Fords with 14 points each.
