Middletown, PA – Penn State Harrisburg faced off against the Frostburg St. Bobcats Wednesday February 4th for a game with major playoff implications. The Bobcats came into the contest today two games ahead of the Lions and tied for the sixth and final playoff spot in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC).
The Lions were up midway through the first half after Arick Sodini (Manalapan, Nj. / St. John Vianney) hit a jumper to put the team up 12-11 with 12:23 to go in the half. Unfortunately in the final ten minutes the Bobcats used a 19-7 run to finish the half in the lead 36-22.
The halftime deficit was not enough to put Harrisburg away as the Lions responded strong with an opening 11-0 run in just over two minutes to bring the game within three. As the next ten minutes unfolded, Frostburg State used a 17–5 run to again gain some breathing room.
Just like the start of the second half, the Blue and White regrouped and were able to make a run of their own to get within reach. In the final two minutes, Harrisburg extended the game and only needed one big shot or stop to have a chance to tie or win the game. Frostburg State would not allow it as they hit consistently from the line in the final minute to win the game 70-67.
Showing well for the Lions were Anthony Morgan (York, Pa / New Hope Academy) with 17 points and seven rebounds as well as Joey Farthing (Lancaster, Pa. / Hempfield) who had a double-double scoring ten points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
Penn State Harrisburg will travel to Southern Virginia this upcoming Saturday when they face the Knights at 3:00pm.
