Lions Finish 2014 Falling to TCNJ

Middletown, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg Men's Basketball has had a rough start to their 2014 campaign and unfortunately was not able to turn things around on the final day of 2014.  Harrisburg was able to recover from its ten point first half deficit, but in the final two minutes could not take advantage of the charity stripe and fell to The College of New Jersey 66-58.

The Lions looked extremely quality in the first ten minutes of the game as the team moved the ball with ease around the court but struggled to finish.  TCNJ slowly built up a ten point lead thanks to the effort of Bobby Brackett putting together a first half double-double before finishing the game with 17 points and 18 rebounds.

Following some adjustments at halftime from coach Friday, the Blue and White came out a whole different team in the second half.  Harrisburg outscored TCNJ 20-7 through the first seven minutes of play in the second half. The hosting Lions momentarily took the lead 37-36 with twelve minutes remaining.  The two teams battled point for point before TCNJ used a 7-0 run to extend its lead with five minutes left.  Harrisburg went cold from the field the last five minutes as they watched their second half lead disappear losing the game 66-58.

Arick Sodini (Manalapan, NJ. / St. John Vianney) led Harrisburg by scoring 15 points while also adding five rebounds.  Also playing strong for the home Lions were Alberto De Los Santos (East Pennsboro, Pa. / East Pennsboro) who led the team with five assists and Winton Lyle (Washington, D.C. / Bullis School) who scored 11.

Penn State Harrisburg hits the road to begin the bulk of their conference play as they take on St. Mary's (MD) Saturday at 4pm.  The Lions will then return home January 7th when they host Southern Virginia at 8pm.
