Penn State Harrisburg Strengthens 14-15 Schedule to Include D1 Navy

Middletown, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg Men's Basketball begins its 2014-2015 campaign and second year in the Capital Athletic Conference with high expectations.  Harrisburg who was a first time member of the CAC last year was picked to finish at the bottom of the conference, but was able to earn some very impressive wins while finishing just one spot shy of the playoffs.

While the team went 8-17overall, they were able to achieve upset wins over Marymount University and Christopher Newport University who was the 14th ranked team in the nation at the time.  Harrisburg will have a strong core of returners in the backcourt this season.  Joey Farthing (Lancaster, Pa/ Hempfield) and Rayshaun Anderson-Brown (Carlisle, Pa./ Carlisle) along with Josh Johnson (Franklin, Va./ Southampton) and Marques Daniels (Philadelphia, Pa./ Philadelphia Electric & Technology Charter) will bring much needed experience to Harrisburg's new look roster.

This season the Lions will not only see some of the best teams in Division III, but have also added the Naval Academy to their schedule this winter.  This will be the first time in school history that the men's basketball team has faced off against a Division I program as a regular season game.

Coach Don Friday begins his second season with Harrisburg this year.  When asked about his expectations for the upcoming season he had this to say.  "We have many returners whose roles will change this season and many newcomers with first time college basketball experience.  Our goal is to get better each and every day and put ourselves in the best position to win when it comes time."

The Lions will open the season Saturday Nov. 15th as they will be hosting the City College of New York in the inaugural Penn State Harrisburg Tip-Off Tournament presented by Hershey Park.   Harrisburg tips off at 1:00 followed by York College (NY) vs McDaniel.  The consolation game is Sunday at 1:00, followed by the final set to start at 3:00 pm.
