MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg is keeping up the holiday spirit into the New Year when the school hosts its first ever "Community Day" on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 4.  The Blue & White men's and women's basketball teams welcome Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) opponent Salisbury to the Capital Union Building (CUB) for doubleheader action that evening.  The ladies tip-off at 1 p.m.  The men will get underway shortly after the conclusion of the first contest.

All attendees, whether fans, family, friends or members of the community, are welcome as admittance will be free of charge.  As an added bonus, the first 100 people through the door will receive a free Penn State Harrisburg lanyard.

Under the leadership of first-year head coach Don Friday, Penn State Harrisburg's men's basketball team currently sits at 5-5 on the year and 2-1 in conference play.  The Lions have defeated some high profile mid-state opponents to this point of the season, including Gettysburg, Lebanon Valley and York (Pa.).  Senior Will Doyle (Franklin, Va. / Tidewater Academy) is coming off a program record 40-point performance on Dec. 21 and currently leads the team with an 18.9 points per game average.  He is the reigning CAC Player of the Week.

The women are currently 4-6 and 1-2 against league competition.  The ladies have defeated the likes of Wilkes and Frostburg State.  Sophomore Kiara Carter (Bronx, N.Y. / Milton Hershey) is having a career year as she has racked up five double-double performances to this point of the young season.  Freshman Kaitlyn Carmo (Palmyra, Pa. / Palmyra Area) is the team's leading-scorer, averaging 12.3 points per contest.
