Baseball Climbs to No. 14 In Both National Polls

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's baseball team continues to climb in both national polls, ranking No. 14 in both of the most recent iterations of the D3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25 and ABCA Coaches Poll. 

 

Winners of 12 in a row, the Lions (31-7) rose five spots in the ABCA rankings and eight places in the D3baseball.com poll from a week ago. The No. 14 mark is the highest ranking in program history. 

 

As a unit, the Lions rank top-10 in the nation in a number of statistical categories, including ERA (3.17), hits allowed per nine innings (7.55), shutouts (6), win-loss percentage (.816), walks (228), and WHIP (1.29).

 

Individually, four pitchers in Josh Berzonski (three times), Danny Eden (twice), Kyle Mahady (twice), and Fisher Druck have combined to earn eighth United East Volt Division Pitcher of the Week honors, while Brendan Henn (three times) and Carlos Irizarry have combined for four United East Volt Division Player of the Week accolades this spring. 

 

Penn State Harrisburg earned the top seed for the upcoming United East Volt Division Tournament and will begin postseason play against No. 4 seed St. Mary's (Md.) on Friday afternoon.
