Baseball Wins Eighth In a Row

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's baseball team battled through rain, sleet, and swirling winds to earn a 7-5 non-conference comeback victory over Mt. St. Vincent on Tuesday afternoon, April 19.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Despite wild weather conditions and a brief delay, Penn State Harrisburg (18-14) defeated Mt. St. Vincent (17-13) on Tuesday afternoon to win its eighth in a row.

Dallas Hite had a big day, going 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI, and a pair of runs scored. Drew Sassaman was also strong at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Brad Richards was strong in three innings of relief work and Kevin Maiolo earned his second save of the season.

The Dolphins jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first but the Blue & White responded with a pair of runs in the bottom half. Hite put his team in front in the bottom of the second when he launched a three-run homer over the fence in left field that brought Jake Stasyk and Robbie Skinner around with him.

The visitors got one back in the top of the fifth but Sassaman answered back in the bottom half with an RBI double that drove in Maddux Ryan. Stasyk added an insurance run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh and despite Mt. St. Vincent getting one back in the ninth, Maiolo closed the door and sealed the win.
