Baseball Drops Monday's Rubber Match at Penn College

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's baseball team dropped a 15-2 decision to United East foe Penn College in the rubber match of a three-game conference series on Monday afternoon, April 4.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (10-13, 7-2 United East) had a rough day at the plate, mustering just four hits against Penn College (11-10, 5-3 United East) in Monday's defeat. The Lions were unable to keep up with the offensive onslaught of the Wildcats, managing just one hit win the final five frames.

Matt Parks went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, while Brendan Henn finished 1-for-4 with an RBI triple. Hunter Merritt got the start on the bump, going three innings and allowing two runs on four hits to go along with three strikeouts.

Parks put the Blue & White on top to begin the game, homering to right field in his first at bat of the afternoon in the top of the first. After Penn College's Cameron Dick tied things up with an RBI single in the bottom half, Henn put the visitors back in front with a two-out triple down the right field line that plated Drew Sassaman.

From there, it was all Wildcats, as the home team reeled off 14 unanswered runs, beginning with the game-tying tally in the bottom of the third before taking the lead for the first time with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth. Penn College stretched the lead to 8-2 after six before putting things out of reach with a seven-run bottom of the eighth.

NOTABLES

- Penn College racked up 19 hits, including six extra-base knocks, compared to just four for the Lions.
