Baseball Seniors Awarded Degrees In Special Ceremony

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – On Monday afternoon, May 6, a special commencement ceremony was held on campus in the Swatara Building for five senior members of the Penn State Harrisburg baseball program.

Seniors Scott Angstadt Jr., Ethan Kell, Brendan Riotto, Jackson Struve and Matt Taylor were honored at the ceremony after the group was unable to attend Penn State Harrisburg's 2019 Commencement at the GIANT Center in Hershey, Pa. on Saturday morning due to the team's qualifying for the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Playoff Tournament contested over the weekend.

During Monday's ceremony, Dr. John Mason, the Chancellor of Penn State Harrisburg, conferred degrees to each of the five players, with Penn State Harrisburg Director of Athletics Rahsaan Carlton on hand to announce each student-athlete's name and major. Numerous family members, friends and Penn State Harrisburg coaches and staff were in attendance to celebrate the occasion.

This past weekend, Angstadt Jr., Kell, Riotto, Struve, Taylor and the rest of the Lions defeated No. 6 Salisbury twice after besting Southern Virginia to advance to the championship round of the CAC Playoff Tournament for the second year in a row. The Blue & White will travel to No. 2 Christopher Newport for the double elimination series beginning on Friday afternoon, May 10.
