Baseball Debuts at No. 5 In NCAA Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA has released its initial Division III baseball regional rankings and Penn State Harrisburg is among the teams included.

The Lions (25-10-1) debuted at fifth in the Mid-Atlantic region after racking up their second consecutive 20-win season and emerging victorious in 11 of the team's last 14 outings. Bret Williams, Travis Van Houten and Miguel Torres currently rank among the nation's best in statistical categories including hits, runs and RBIs. As a team, the Blue & White rank top-10 in the country in hits, runs and home runs.

Nationally-ranked Rowan claimed the top spot in the regional rankings, while The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) and Johns Hopkins round out the top three. The Lions have earned wins over three regionally-ranked teams so far this spring, having defeated Hopkins, Alvernia and Christopher Newport.

Penn State Harrisburg returns to action this weekend when the team travels to Frostburg State for their final Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) series of the season.
