Williams Earns CAC POTW Honor

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Thanks to his outstanding efforts across five victories last week, Penn State Harrisburg's Bret Williams has been named the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Baseball Player of the Week.

Williams helped lead the Lions (22-8-1) to a 5-0 week that included three wins over CAC foe Mary Washington, as well as non-conference victories against Keystone and No. 16 Johns Hopkins. In the win over Keystone, the junior hit a pair of home runs, including the game-winning walk-off grand slam, added a double and racked up eight RBIs before going 4-for-5 with a double and four runs scored in the final contest at UMW on Saturday. On Sunday, he hit the go-ahead two-run home run in the top of the 11th inning of a 10-8 victory at No. 16 JHU; it was the Lions' first win over a nationally-ranked opponent this season. For the week, Williams slashed .440/.517/.880 with an OPS of 1.397, stole two bases, drove in 11 runs and walked three times.

The Blue & White return to action on Wednesday afternoon when they wrap up the season series against Southern Virginia in Buena Vista, Va. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
