Baseball Tabbed Third In CAC Preseason Poll

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) released its 2019 baseball preseason poll this morning and Penn State Harrisburg has been picked to finish third in the league standings by the conference's head coaches.

The Lions earned 36 total points to rank third behind the defending conference champions from Salisbury and the runners-up from Christopher Newport. The Sea Gulls earned 48 points and six first-place votes, while CNU tallied 43 points and received two first-place votes.

Frostburg State totaled 31 points to earn fourth place, while York (Pa.) rounded out the top five with 22 points.

The Blue & White put together the most successful season in program history a year ago, winning 31 games and making a run to the CAC Tournament Championship Series. The Lions return much of their core from last spring, led by American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Region First Teamer Bret Williams and First-Team All-CAC honoree Miguel Torres.

Penn State Harrisburg opens its 2019 campaign with a doubleheader at Eastern Mennonite on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 23.
