Brubaker Lifts Baseball Team to Win over Washington College

Chestertown, MD – Josh Brubaker fell a single short of the cycle, Brendan Riotto earned his first save of the season, and Penn State Harrisburg overcame an early deficit to top Washington College on Thursday afternoon, 7-4.  It was their fourth win of the season.

Bottom 1 – Washington College was first to get on the board, scoring two runs in the bottom half of the first frame.  With one out and the bases juiced, Aaron Barclay hit into a fielder's choice that brought a run in from 3rd base.  In the following at-bat, Charlie Meder was able to reach 1st base on a throwing error by Lions 3B _____.  The led to a second, unearned run.  2-0 Washington College

Top 3 – Penn State Harrisburg got things going offensively in their half of the third inning by scoring five runs, all of which were unearned.  With no one out and a runner on third, Jackson Struve grounded out to the right side of the infield, allowing the runner to score.  A Justin O'Dell single a few batters later brought David Klein around to score from 2nd base.  Following a Zachary Koroneos walk, Josh Brubaker was able to smack a 2 RBI triple.  A Tyler Aug single in the next at-bat capped off the five-run inning.  5-2 Lions

Top 5 – With one away in the inning, Josh Brubaker followed up his 2 RBI triple with a solo longball over the left field fence.  Alex Cline came through a few batters later on a sacrifice fly to right field that allowed Tyler Aug to tag up and score from 3rd base.  7-2 Lions

Bottom 7 – The Shoremen made their final push in the 7th inning, cutting the Blue and White lead in half.  A two-out double down the left field line by Luke D'Ostilio allowed Chris Kramedas to come all the way around the bases and score from first.  A Wes Robertson single in the next at-bat scored D'Ostilio from second.  Washington College was unable to score again in their remaining at-bats.  7-4 Lions
