Harrisburg Splits Against St. Mary's (Md.)

St. Mary's, Md.- The Penn State Harrisburg baseball team split this afternoon against fellow Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) opponent St. Mary's (Md.). The Lion's fell in the first match up 6-5 but came out strong offensively in the second game and went on to win 9-6.

In today's first game, Harrisburg came out tough in the first inning, grabbing an early 4-0 lead. The Lion's struggled to get more runs on the board until the final inning off of a fly ball to left field. Harrisburg's final run was not enough to overcome St. Mary's 6-4 lead.
 
Freshman Scott Angstadt Jr. (Jarrettsville, Md. / North Harford) brought home the Lion's first run of the second game off of an error by the Sea Gulls. The home team was able to tie the game up in the third off of a single to right field and an error by Harrisburg. St. Mary's went on to take the lead in the fifth, 4-3. The Lion's found their stride at the top of the sixth, bringing home four runs to take back the lead. Brett Arney (Pheonixville, Pa. / Pheonixville Area) got things started with his first double of the day, advancing Ethan Kell (Middletown, Pa. / Middletown Area) to home plate. David Klein (Sugarloaf, Pa. / Hazleton Area) doubled to center field next at bat for the Lion's, sending Arney to home plate.
 

Harrisburg added two more to their tally as they headed into the seventh inning off of a wild pitch and a double to right field. The Blue and White went on to add two more runs in the final innings to grab their sixth conference win. Brian Goodling (Carlisle, Pa. / Carlisle) took him his second win of the season on the mound after giving up only two runs and one walk.

Penn State Harrisburg will host Wesley on Wednesday April 6th. The Lion's will be playing only one game against the Wolverines at 3:30 pm.
