Harrisburg Drops First Conference Game

Harrisburg Drops First Conference Game

Middletown, Pa.-  The Penn State Harrisburg men's baseball team opened up conference play against York (Pa.) College this afternoon. Harrisburg has gone on a three game skid over the last week and looked to pick up a win this afternoon against the Spartans. Unfortunately, for the Blue and White, they were not able to pick up their first conference win, as they were defeated by York, 4-1.

Both teams struggled to put points on the board in the first six innings. Mark Artley (Milton, Pa. / Milton Area) pitched the first six innings for the Lions with five strike outs. The Spartans sent Artley to the dug out with a homerun at the top of the sixth. The Lions got their only point of the game thanks to a single from Scott Angstadt Jr. (Jarrettsville, Md. / North Harford)  that sent Kevin Kremer (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) to home plate. York went on to score two more runs at the top of the seventh to seal their win.

Penn State Harrisburg will travel to Virginia for the next few days to take on several teams. The Lions will face Averett on Sunday March 6th and Monday March 7th before facing Roanoke and Washington and Lee.
