Brubaker Shines in Season Opening Loss

Hampden-Sydney, VA The Penn State Harrisburg baseball team traveled south to find better weather and most importantly a field without snow where the Lion men could play the game they all love.  Unfortunately without any real time outside, the Blue and White struggled to find their groove and suffered a 5-0 loss to Hampden-Sydney (3-2) on Friday February 19th in the ninth annual Floyd B. Wilcox Tournament.

Hampden-Sydney got on the board in the second inning, scoring their first run after starting the inning off with a double.  The Tigers were able to keep the pace going scoring once again in the fourth and sixth innings to take a 3-0 lead into the top of the 7th

Penn State Harrisburg was unable to make a dent in the deficit in the top of the seventh and the Tigers left little room for a comeback by adding two additional runs to seal the win.

The Lions did show some good signs in their first outing of the season despite not scoring a run.  Sophomore outfielder Josh Brubaker (Lancaster, Pa. / Lancaster County Christian) claimed three of the team's four hits of the day and defensively the Lions only gave up one error.

Thankfully the Lions will have more than a few chances to find their swing as they face off against Stevenson University and Gallaudet (DH) over the next two days.
