Lions Keep Streak Alive with Extra Inning Thriller

Reading, Pa. – The Penn State Harrisburg men's baseball was in action Tuesday April 21st looking to extend their five game winning streak.  The Blue and White have been playing some of their best ball of the season as of late and did not change direction today against the Albright Lions.

The visiting Lions started off hot as Kyle Buchman (Orefield, Pa. / Notre Dame) singled to start the game.  Buchman was able to find his way around the bases with the help of timely hit from Kevin Kremer (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) sending him home for the first score of the game.  The hot start continued for Harrisburg as Chris Iocca (North Brunswick, N.J. / N Brunswick twp) was able to connect and bring Tom Denniston (Harrisburg, Pa. / Bishop McDevitt) home to finish the inning.

Penn State Harrisburg continued to tee off into the second inning as they added two more runs to bring the score to 4-0.   This lead would not last even with the Harrisburg strong defensive effort over the next couple of inning to stay ahead.

Albright began to rally when they added two runs in the 4th and another run in the 7th and the 8th to tie the game at four runs apiece.  Despite this rally from Albright, the visitors found a way to dig in and get the job done in the extra inning of play that was required.  Bryan Balshy (Palmyra, Pa. / Palmyra) came up with a clutch triple in the tenth to put the Blue and White in scoring position.  Balshy was then brought in by Brendan Miller (Williamstown, Pa. / Williams Valley) for what would eventually be the game winning run.

Penn State Harrisburg will next be in action April 22nd when they stay on the road against Stevenson.
