Aromin Makes History at NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals

NEWVILLE, Pa.Samantha Aromin made history at the NCAA Cross Country Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships hosted by Dickinson at Big Spring High School on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 13 when she became the first Penn State Harrisburg runner ever to earn U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region recognition.

The freshman capped off her sensational rookie campaign with a 33rd-place finish in the 6K race that included a field of 216 of the best runners in the region. Her time of 24:43.2 was strong enough to secure her the first all-region accolade of any cross country runner in program history. Teammate and fellow freshman Tatyana Gibson also competed in the regional race, finishing 112th thanks to a time of 26:51.5.

On the men's side, Jordan Payne led the way with a time of 28:32.3 in the 8K event. His effort was good enough to secure him a 52nd-place finish in a field of 222 of the region's top competitors. Luke Culver came home 181st and Steven Painter crossed the line in 196th to complete the Penn State Harrisburg contingency.
