Five Runners Earn All-Conference Honors at XC Championships

LANCASTER, Pa. – Five runners earned all-conference honors to lead the way for Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's cross country at the United East Championships at Lancaster Bible on Saturday, Oct. 30, while both teams earned runner-up finishes at the event.

 

Samantha Aromin and Tatyana Gibson capped off their outstanding rookie campaigns by finishing second and third, respectively, in the women's 6K race. Aromin secured the runner-up spot with a time of 24:28.0; a mark less than three seconds off the winning time of 24:25.5 by Madeleine Blasidell of St. Mary's (Md.). Gibson came home third thanks to a time of 25:40.0, more than 30 seconds ahead of the next-closest finisher. Thanks to their efforts, Aromin and Gibson secured United East All-Conference First-Team accolades.

 

Abagail Marquardt crossed the line in 15th place with a time of 28:59.9, while Jameraquai May, Kyli Moon-Rumsey, and Dominique Taylor completed the Penn State Harrisburg group of competitors.

 

On the men's side, Jordan Payne led the way behind an effort of 28:07.4, clinching him a third-place finish and securing him United East All-Conference First-Team recognition. His time also ranks as the second-quickest 8K mark in program history.

 

Two more Penn State Harrisburg runners in Paolo Aranoff and Logan Cook earned top-10 finishes, with Aranoff coming home ninth and Cook crossing the line in 10th to earn United East All-Conference Second-Team honors. Aranoff posted a time of 29:52.4, while Cook turned in an effort of 30:04.1.

 

Luke Culver and Mohammed Sakayl each earned top-30 finishes, while Steven Painter and Nic Spohn rounded out the Penn State Harrisburg competitor contingency.
