More Cross Country Records Fall at LBC's Charger Invite

LANCASTER, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's cross country teams continued to build on their strong starts to the 2021 campaign at Lancaster Bible's Charger Invite on Friday evening, Sept. 17.

The duo of Samantha Aromin and Tatyana Gibson shined for the second week in a row, with Aromin winning the women's race and setting a new program record in a 6K event thanks to her time of 25:01.7. Gibson, the reigning United East Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, also bested the previous program record and earned a runner-up finish thanks to her effort of 26:18.2.

Jameraquai May and Abagail Marquardt narrowly missed out on top-10 finishes, while Nofisat Aina completed the team's scoring contingency. Kyli Moon-Rumsey and Dominique Tayler rounded out the Blue & White runners. As a whole, the Lions earned a second-place team finish out of the five competing schools.

On the men's side, Paolo Aranoff led the way by claiming a runner-up finish with a time of 28:49.9 in the 8K race. His mark was strong enough to rank as the third-quickest effort in program history. Jordan Payne was the second Penn State Harrisburg runner to earn a top-five finish, as his jaunt of 29:29.7 was good enough for fifth place. Logan Cook crossed the finish line in 10th after posting a time of 30:39.9.

Luke Culver and Steven Painter just missed out on top-20 finishes, while Zachary Malay, Mohammed Sakayl, and Nic Spohn completed the Lions' group of competitors. As a unit, the Blue & White secured a third-place finish out of six competing teams.

Penn State Harrisburg's men and women will return to action at Dickinson's Long/Short Meet on Saturday morning, Sept. 25.
