LATHAM, N.Y. – Thanks to her outstanding effort on Saturday morning, Penn State Harrisburg's Tatyana Gibson has been named the United East Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

In the first race of her collegiate career, Gibson shattered the program's previous 5K record. The freshman turned in an effort of 19:41.5 at Lebanon Valley's annual Dutchmen Invitational at Union Canal Tunnel Park in Lebanon, Pa. on Saturday, Sept. 11. Her time was good enough secure a sixth-place finish out of 161 total runners and obliterate Penn State Harrisburg's previous 5K record by more than three and a half minutes.

Gibson and the rest of the Lions are set to return to action at Lancaster Bible's Charger Invitational on Friday afternoon, Sept. 17.
