Gray Breaks 60m Dash Record at F&M's Diplomat Open

LANCASTER, Pa. - A couple of program records were broken or matched by Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's track & field teams during the Diplomat Open hosted by Franklin & Marshall on Friday afternoon, Dec. 8.

 

Leah Gray continued to impress to begin her senior campaign and now officially holds the crown as the fastest woman in program history after winning the 60m dash with a blistering effort of 7.91 seconds in the event. She had a strong 200m dash showing as well, finishing third in the event with a run of 26.99 seconds. 

 

Steph Reider also continued to excite in the second meet of her career by matching the program record in the weight throw with a top toss of 12.88 meters. She also improved on her PR in the shot put from a week ago, with her new best effort of 10.63 meters standing as the second best mark in program history. 

 

Mohammed Tall had a big night on the men's side, as he was victorious in the long jump with a top leap of 6.49 meters after earning a sixth-place finish in the 60m dash with an effort of 7.19 seconds. 

 

Paul Netland III secured a third-place finish in the 60m hurdles, Isaac Whitson finished fourth in the triple jump, and Comlan Greg Acoliste came home seventh in the weight throw. Steven Benavides, Oluwa Kinti, and Angad Bhullar earned top-10 finishes in the shot put, as did Kadin Sodmont, Jah'sir Shumate, and Zakareya Aidel in the 200m dash.

 

The women had a number of top-10 finishers as well, including Katrin Cavanaugh in the pole vault and triple jump and Makayla Grace Weber in the 60m hurdles.

 

The Lions will take the next five weeks off from competition before returning to action at the Alvernia Winter Invite on Jan. 20.
