Gibson Named NJAC Women's Outdoor Rookie of the Year

PITMAN, N.J. - Thanks to her stellar efforts at the 2022 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Penn State Harrisburg's Tatyana Gibson has been named the NJAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Year.

Gibson joins former Penn State Harrisburg standout Sarah Lehman (2018) as track & field athletes to earn women's outdoor conference rookie of the year accolades.

The freshman had an outstanding spring that culminated in an NJAC Championship in the 1,500m run thanks to a facility (TCNJ) and program-record time of 4:48.31. The gold medal also secured her NJAC First-Team All-Conference honors in the event. She earned a runner-up finish in the 800m as well, claiming second-team all-conference recognition in the process.

Earlier this season, Gibson set a program record in the 800m with a time of 2:15.40 at Shippensburg's Paul Kaiser Classic. The Harrisburg, Pa. native also earned NJAC Rookie of the Week honors in early April.
