CHAMP! Aromin Wins 10K Title at NJAC Championships

PITMAN, N.J. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's track & field runner Sammi Aromin led the way for the Lions on day one of the 2022 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the College of New Jersey (TCNJ) on Sunday, May 8.

The freshman distance runner won a conference championship in the 10,000m after making the race-winning pass on the penultimate lap. Her time of 41:45.39 was good enough to secure gold by nearly six seconds over Kelly Weckstein; the runner-up from Montclair State. In addition to capturing the conference title, Aromin also earned NJAC All-Conference First-Team honors in the event.

Kyli Moon-Rumsey sits in second place in the heptathlon after four events on the first day of competition. She earned runner-up finishes in the 100m dash, shot put, and 200m dash to rack up 2,268 total points. The sophomore will finish up her two-day outing with three more events on Monday afternoon.

On the men's side, Alex White earned a top-five finish in the long jump, as his top leap of 7.04 meters was a season-best effort and strong enough to secure him fourth place. Sean Hamby improved on his PR in the 400m hurdles, posting a time of 58.55 seconds and claiming a 10th-place finish.

The Lions will wrap up their two days of competition at the NJAC Outdoor Championships on Monday, May 9. The day's first event gets underway at 10 a.m.
