Track & Field Returns to Action at Millersville

LANCASTER, Pa. - A number of competitors impressed for Penn State Harrisburg men's and women's track & field program when the teams took part in the 39th Millersville Metrics on Saturday, April 2.

On the women's side, Tatyana Gibson and Sammi Aromin continued their outstanding rookie campaigns, with Gibson winning the 800m and Aromin emerging victorious in the 5,000m. Gibson won her event thanks to a new program-record time of 2:18.72; a mark that ranks 35th in the nation. She earned another top-10 finish and set a second program record with an effort of 4:56.95 in the 1,500m. Aromin also had a record-breaking performance in the 5,000m, as her jaunt of 18:51.08 was strong enough to earn the win in the event and set the program record by nearly two minutes.

Elsewhere for the women, Starr Williams came home fifth in the triple jump thanks to a top leap of 10.62 meters; an effort good enough to rank her third all-time in Penn State Harrisburg history in the event.

For the men, it was Alex White leading the way. The veteran earned a runner-up finish in the long jump behind a top bound of 6.69 meters. Sean Hamby had a nice outing in the 400m hurdles, coming home fifth after completing the race in 59.06 seconds; a time strong enough to earn him the third-place spot in the program's record book.

Scott Brosius joined White as another jumper to have a solid outing, finishing fourth in the triple jump thanks to a top leap of 12.60 meters.

Penn State Harrisburg will look to build on the early success of the outdoor campaign when the team travels to Messiah for the three-day Messiah Multi and Invitational beginning on Thursday afternoon.
