More Indoor Records Fall at Albany's Great Dane Classic

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - After a seven-week hiatus, Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's indoor track & field teams returned to action at the Great Dane Classic hosted by Albany at the Ocean Breeze Facility on Friday, Jan. 28.

In the program's first meet with Kadine Johnson-Crowder as head coach, a pair of women's records were broken, with Tatyana Gibson and Sammi Aromin shining for the second time in as many outings, while Sean Myron reset his own personal-best effort in the shot put to cement his spot in the men's record book.

After setting the program record in the 800m in her first collegiate meet in December, Gibson shaved seven seconds off her mark in the event thanks to a jaunt of 2:21.15. The freshman secured a 15th-place finish, besting numerous Division I and II runners in the process. Fresh off setting the program record in the 3,000m in the first meet of her collegiate career last month, Aromin did it again, this time in the 5,000m. The rookie earned an eighth-place finish behind an effort of 18:51.53 in the event; good enough to best 15 other runners, including seven of the Division I variety.

Myron continued his strong start to the season by upping his personal best in the shot put, with his top toss of 11.55 meters proving strong enough to improve his own mark that ranks third all-time in program history.

Elsewhere on the men's side, Uzee Ukattah ran a 7.16 in the 60m prelims, while Mohammed Tall posted a 23.79 in the 200m. Alex White earned an eighth-place finish in the long jump thanks to a top leap of 6.54 meters and Scott Brosius was the team's top finisher in the triple jump behind a top effort of 12.62 meters.

For the women, Leah Gray had a strong showing in the 60m dash, running an 8.36 in the event, while Starr Williams led the way in the triple jump with a top leap of 9.80 meters. Emily Weber took part in both the shot put and weight throw, and Kyli Moon-Rumsey joined Gray in the 60m and 200m dashes.

Both the men and women will look to keep rolling when they return to action next weekend. Fans can keep up with Penn State Harrisburg Athletics all season long on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook using the handle @pshbgathletics.
