T&F Posts Big Numbers at Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – A number of Penn State Harrisburg men's and women's track & field athletes posted big numbers at Shippensburg Mid-Week Invitational on Wednesday afternoon, April 17.

 

Women's jumper Sarah Lehman, men's jumper Alex White and men's hurdler Jalil Clayton each turned in efforts that currently rank them among the top 10 in their respective events. Lehman's top mark of 11.77 meters in the triple jump vaulted her to sixth in the nation, while White's best leap of 7.25 meters in the long jump moved him to sixth in the country. Clayton got through the 110m hurdles in 14.57 seconds, a time quick enough to rank him sixth in all of NCAA Division III.

 

Elsewhere, Cameron Yon set a new Shippensburg Mid-Week Meet record in the discus throw en route to winning the event thanks to his top toss of 53.93 meters, Andrew Bomberger reset the school record in the pole vault thanks to his best effort of 4.25 meters. White's bound of 1.95 meters earned him a victory in the high jump and Dominick Hogans ran his quickest time of the spring in the 400m dash; his jaunt of 49.89 seconds was just .01 seconds shy of the program record.

 

Yon added a runner-up finish in the hammer throw, Alex Terody just missed out on a top-10 finish in the 100m dash and Hogans came home sixth in the 200m dash. Clayton finished third in the 400m hurdles, while fellow hurdler Shammah Gahomera was sixth in the 110m race.

 

On the women's side, Rae Rae Taylor reset her own program record in the 100m dash with a sprint of 12.74 seconds, while Rachale Hair broke the school record in the hammer throw with a toss of 37.48 meters. Sephora Senestant came within .2 seconds of breaking the program record in the 400m hurdles, Taylor added a fourth-place finish in the long jump and Lehman came home right behind her with a fifth-place effort.

 

Fresh off a record-breaking outing, the Lions will look to keep their momentum rolling when they return to action at Gettysburg's Mason-Dixon Invitational on Saturday, April 20.
