Hair Leads the Lion's at Messiah

Grantham, Pa.- The Penn State Harrisburg men's and women's track and field teams traveled to Messiah for the 2016 Messiah Invitational at Starry Field. Saturday's inclement weather forced competition to Monday where several Harrisburg athletes took home first place finishes.

Senior Josiah Owhe (Westbury, N.Y / Westbury) got things started for the Lion's with a second place finish in the men's 100-meter dash with a time of 11.29 seconds. Owhe collected a first place finish in the men's long jump. In the men's 200-meter dash, Jalil Clayton (Chester, Pa. / Chester High School) finished first with an impressive time of 22.46 seconds. Clayton and Vladhimir Theophile (Reading, Pa. / Cherry Hill East High School) grabbed the top two finishes in the men's 400-meter dash.
 

Freshman Cameron Yon (Patuxent River, MD / Great Mills High School) placed first in the men's discus and third in the men's shot put with a distance of 49.28 meters and 12.08 meters. Edgar Makimoto (Middleburg, Pa. / Selinsgrove) wrapped up the meet for the men with a first place finish in the men's 5000 meter run. Freshman Rachale Hair (Newburg, Pa. / Big Springs) highlighted the women's day, placing third in the women's shot put with a distance of 11.43 meters.

 

Both teams will be back in action on Saturday April 16th for the Mason Dixon Invitational.
