Harrisburg Places Third at Elizabethtown Invitational

Elizabethtown, Pa.- The Penn State Harrisburg track and field team opened up their spring season this weekend at the Elizabethtown Early Bird Opener. The men placed second overall as a team while the women placed sixth.

Harrisburg started the meet off strong with a first place finish in the men's 4x100 meter relay. Isaiah Waters (Montclair, NJ / Montclair High School)Vladhimir Theophile (Reading, Pa. / Cherry Hill East High)Jalil Clayton (Chester, Pa. / Chester High School), and Josiah Owhe (Westbury, N.Y. / Westbury) placed first in both the men's 4x100 and the 4x400 relay. In the 100 meter dash, Owhe brought home a second place finish with Jalen Williams(Easton, Pa. / Easton Area) close behind in third. Theophile placed first in the men's 400 meter dash with a time of 50.84 seconds. Clayton clinched his second win in the men's 400 meter hurdles with an impressive time of 55.64 seconds. Clayton went on to grab another first place win the the men's high jump. Freshman Cameron Yon (Patuxent River, MD / Great Mills High School) added to Harrisburg's tally with a second place finish in the men's discus throw and a fifth place finish in the hammer throw. Overall, the men finished out the day in second place with 118 points, only 14 points behind Elizabethtown who took home the win.
 
On the women's side, Ashley Williams (Easton, PA / Easton Area High School) placed first in the women's 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.97 seconds. William's placed second in the 400-meter hurdle. Newcomer Rachale Hair (Newburg, Pa / Big Springs) finished first in the women's discus and fifth in the javelin throw with a distance of 35.30 meters. Ashley Peart (West Orange, NJ / West Orange High School) grabbed the win for Harrisburg in the women's long jump at 4.83 meters. The women placed sixth overall with a total of 43 points.
 

The Lion's placed third overall with a combined totally of 161 points. Both teams will travel to York (Pa.) on March 23rd for the York Twilight Meet.
