MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Penn State Harrisburg's softball team wrapped up its four days of competition in South Carolina by splitting a pair of contests with Greensboro and Penn State Fayette on Wednesday morning, March 8.

GAME 1

The Lions (4-3) made a late push but fell a few runs short in a 6-4 loss to Greensboro (7-2) in their first outing of the morning on Wednesday.

Krys Moore had a multi-hit game, while Madelyn Lehigh and Mackenzie Fisher each recorded an extra-base hit. Starting pitcher. Mackenzie Sawdey threw a complete seven-inning game and recorded four strikeouts.

Greensboro got on the board first in the bottom of the opening frame but Penn State Harrisburg tied things up at 1-1 with a lone run in the top of the third. The Pride answered with three runs in the bottom half before tacking on two more in the fifth but the Lions put together a charge in the sixth, scoring three runs and cutting the deficit to two. Unfortunately, that's as close as they'd get to pulling off the comeback, as they were unable to push any across in the final stanza.

GAME 2

Penn State Harrisburg (5-3) left no doubt in the team's final contest of its spring break trip to South Carolina, rolling to a convincing 15-1 five-inning victory over Penn State Fayette on Wednesday afternoon.

Emma Einarson had a three-hit outing, while Steph Reider went 2-for-4 with a double. Carissa Yeager and Kierstyn Smith combined to record three strikeouts inside the circle.

Penn State Fayette struck first to begin the game, plating the contest's first run in the top of the opening stanza. That was the lone highlight for the opposing Lions, as Penn State Harrisburg responded with a five-run bottom of the first. The Lions blew the game wide open by pushing across 10 runs on eight hits in the third and Smith took care of the rest to seal the victory.

WHO'S NEXT?

The Lions will have two weeks to prepare for their next outing; a doubleheader at Elizabethtown on Tuesday, March 21.
