MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Penn State Harrisburg's softball team went 2-for-2 on day three of the squad's South Carolina spring break trip, edging Bridgewater State 7-6 in the first outing of the day before coming from behind to defeat Medaille 7-1 in the second game on Tuesday afternoon.

GAME 1

Penn State Harrisburg (3-2) held off a late charge from Bridgewater State (2-3) to secure a 7-6 win and surpass the .500 mark in Myrtle Beach on Tuesday morning.

Madelyn Lehigh and Leah Macaluso registered two hits apiece, with Macaluso also driving in a pair of runs. Mackenzie Sawdey picked up the win inside inside the circle and Carissa Yeager earned the save in three innings of relief.

After the Bears got on the board in the top of the second, Olivia Herncane tied things up in the bottom half with a single and ensuing BSU error that allowed Macaluso to score from first base. Krys Moore followed it up with an RBI triple that gave the Lions the lead and eventually scored on a double steal later in the frame.

Penn State Harrisburg added another run in the third when another Bridgewater State error allowed Mackenzie Fisher to score after she led off the stanza with a triple but the Bears cut the deficit to two in the top of the fourth thanks to a pair of runs.

Yeager entered in the top of the fifth and sat BSU down in order and the bats got going again in the bottom half, with Steph Reider driving in Lehigh with an RBI single and Macaluso scoring Rylee Martinez and Alexus Brown with a triple to right center.

The Bears nearly drew even in the top of the sixth when they used a triple, an error, and a walk to push three runs across but Yeager ended the threat with a lineup before stranding a pair of baserunners in the final inning to end the game.

GAME 2

Penn State Harrisburg (4-2) hung around before erasing a one-run deficit with crooked numbers in the final innings of a 7-1 victory over Medaille on Tuesday afternoon.

After three scoreless frames, the Mavericks got on the board first with a lone unearned run in the top of the fourth. The Lions finally broke through in the fifth, plating three runs and grabbing a lead they wouldn't relinquish.
