How It Happened

Delaware Valley put together a late rally to earn a 5-4 come-from-behind victory over Penn State Harrisburg in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday afternoon, April 25.

Carlee Gochenaur had a nice day, going 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Katie Humphrey, Maddie Krantz and Sierra Dixon also drove in one run apiece. Allison Hartman was also strong inside the circle, allowing just one earned run on seven hits to go along with nine strikeouts.

The Lions (12-19-1) struck first, scoring three runs in the second inning. Kratz's bases-loaded walk drove in Hartman to tally the game's first run before a Dixon ground ball plated Gochenaur. Humphrey capped the top of the frame with an RBI single to right field that brought Sarah Coolbaugh across.

The Aggies (10-23) responded by scoring four unanswered run in the third and fourth innings before Gochenaur tied things up in the top of the fifth stanza with a single down the right field line that plated Nina Bruno.

Unfortunately for the Blue & White, the home team used a lead-off walk, a stolen base, a sacrifice bunt and a ground ball to shortstop to score the game-winning run and walk it off in the bottom of the seventh.

How It Happened

Penn State Harrisburg racked up eight hits but they led to just one run in a 2-1, extra-inning loss to Delaware Valley in the nightcap of a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday afternoon, April 25.

Katie Humphrey, Delaney Nevius and Allison Hartman each had multi-hit games, with Hartman driving in the team's lone run. Mary-Kate Penczkowski was solid inside the circle, scattering six hits and allowing just one earned run.

The Blue & White (12-20-1) got on the board first when Hartman doubled to left field, driving in Humphrey in the process in the top of the first inning. The Aggies (11-23) responded with a run in the bottom of the stanza to tie the score before six scoreless frames ensued.
