How It Happened
The Penn State Harrisburg softball team travel to face #3 Christopher Newport in conference double header.
The Lions got off to a fast start taking the lead in the top of the first inning. Katie Humphrey led off the game by driving a single into center field. After Delaney Nevius reached base on a fielder's choice, Nina Bruno drove a single to left center putting runners on first and second. Allison Hartman followed with another single this time to center field, loading the bases. With Kaylee DeMatteo up to bat, a wild pitch allowed Nevius to score. DeMatteo would walk to load the bases, and Carlee Gochenaur would be hit by a pitch allowing Harrisburg to take a 2-0 lead.
The Lions looked to add to their lead in the second inning. Humphrey singled to third base and Nevius followed with a single to right field. Nina Bruno would then move both runners into scoring position, but the Lions could not plate another run.
The Captains would respond plating two runs in the second inning and three runs in the third to recapture momentum. A pair of home runs in the fourth inning would put the game out of reach for the Lions.
At the Plate
- Katie Humphrey recorded a pair of hits out of the leadoff spot
- Delaney Nevius, Nina Bruno, Allison Hartman all recorded a hit
- Carlee Gochenaur drove in an RBI when she got hit by a pitch in the first inning

How It Happened
The Lions looked to rally from their game one defeat, but quickly found themselves in an early hole. The Captains would score seven runs in the second inning to capture the momentum.
Harrisburg struggled to get base runners throughout the contest, only getting one aboard in the fifth inning. The Captains would add to more runs in the third inning, capturing the 11-0 victory.
At the Plate
- Allison Hartman was the only Lion to reach base, getting hit by a pitch in the fifth inning
In the Circle
- Kaylee Simon started the second game allowing nine runs on nine hits
- Mary-Kate Penczkowski came in for relief allowing two runs on three hits
- Allison Hartman pitched the final inning, allowing only one hit
Who's Next?
The Lions return home for their final conference doubleheader when they face Frostburg State on Thursday April 18 at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. The Blue & White will be celebrating senior day during the contests.
