How it Happened:

Penn State Harrisburg got off to a fast start in their CAC opener striking in the first inning. Erelle Sowers worked a lead-off walk and moved into scoring position on a Katie Humphrey sacrifice bunt. Emily Parmer followed with a deep fly ball to drive in Sowers and but the Lions ahead 1-0.

The Lions patient bats paid off in the second inning. After two walks and a base hit from Carlee Gochenaur, Humphrey walked bring in the game's second run. Parmer then followed with a single to right field, scoring two more runs. After Humphrey scored on a wild pitch, Dominique Emmett delivered a single up the middle to score Parmer. Kaylee DeMatteo would add a single and Nina Bruno drew a walk to load the bases for Allison Hartman. Hartman would draw a walk herself to put the Lions ahead by seven. Gochenaur would follow with a single that scored two runs. Sowers would crush a double down the right field line to put the Lions ahead by 10. Finally Humphrey would hit a hard ground ball to drive in Gochenaur and complete the 10 run second inning rally.

This would be plenty for starting pitcher Allison Hartman who only allowed one hit in four innings of action, while striking out three Knight's batters. The Lions would later turn to Erelle Sowers to close out the contest.

Harrisburg's offense added a couple more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. After Gochenaur reached base by getting hit by a pitch, Humphrey would single to drive her in. Parmer would later double down the left field line, scoring Humphrey and putting the Lions ahead 13-0. The Knights would score two runs in the top of the fifth, before the Lions closed out the 13-2 victory.

In game two, the Lions would once again strike in the first inning. After Parmer singled and stole second, Emmett would single past the second baseman to score the game's first run.

The Knights would answer in the second inning, tying the game at one. The Lions took back control of the game in the third inning. After Gochenaur walked, Humphrey would blast a single toward second base, and Gochenaur would score on an error by the first baseman. Emmett would follow that up with another RBI single, putting the Lions ahead 3-1. The Lions would an insurance run in the fifth inning when Emmett drove in her third RBI of the game with a double of the right field fence.

Meanwhile Allison Hartman returned to the mound and continued to control Southern Virginia offense, holding them only two runs on eleven hits while striking out five Knights. Hartman was backed by some strong defensive efforts, which were on especially on display in the seventh inning. With runners on first and second and one out in the inning, the Knights blasted a single out to center fielder Emily Parmer, who immediately threw home to catcher Dominique Emmett. The runner attempting to score from second threw on the breaks, getting in a run-down that Lions defense executed perfectly to get the out.
