Boyd Earns NCAA DIII Statistical Championship

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg sophomore, Kara Boyd (Alexandria, PA/Juniata Valley) has been named the 2011 NCAA Division III statistical champion in softball for triples per game (.27) as announced by the NCAA Statistics Department. 

Boyd also ranked in the top ten in three other NCAA statistical categories.   She was second nationally in both batting average (.570) and total triples for the season (10), as well as, seventh nationally with an on base percentage of .607.

Based on her incredible statistical accomplishments during the 2011 season, Boyd was named as the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) softball Player of the Year and named first team all-conference, as both a Pitcher and Outfielder. 

Along with these honors, Boyd broke the NCAA Division III softball record for consecutive hits this past season with seventeen hits in a row.

Boyd is the first Penn State Harrisburg athlete to be a NCAA Division III statistical champion in any sport.
