Cross Country Performs Well at Hood

KNOXVILLE, Md. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's cross country teams were in action at the Hood College Open on Saturday morning, Oct. 16. The men's squad earned a sixth-place finish out of 18 competing teams, while the women secured a seventh-place finish out of 12 total programs.

On the women's side, Samantha Aromin's outstanding rookie campaign continued, as the freshman captured an eighth-place finish thanks to her time of 20:32.0 in the 5K race that included 116 total runners. Abagail Marquardt also turned in one of her top performances of the fall, as her effort of 24:07.5 was good enough to earn her a 50th-place finish.

Jameraquai May, Layla Germain, and Kyli Moon-Rumsey comprised the remainder of the Penn State Harrisburg women's scoring contingency.

Jordan Payne led the way for the men. The freshman just missed out on a top-20 finish in the 8K event, with his jaunt of 29:22.6 strong enough to secure him 21st overall out of 159 total competitors. Reigning United East Runner of the Week Paolo Aranoff was the second Blue & White runner to capture a spot in the top 25, as his time of 29:54.6 proved good enough 25th overall.

Logan Cook crossed the finish line in 40th with a time of 30:46.8, while Luke CulverZachary Malay, Darryl Osei, and Nic Spohn rounded out the rest of the Lions group of competitors.

With the regular season in the books, Penn State Harrisburg will turn its attention to the United East Championship event in two weeks. The event will be held on the campus of Lancaster Bible on Saturday morning, Oct. 30.
