LANCASTER, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's track & field teams returned to action at Franklin & Marshall's Diplomat Open on Friday afternoon, Dec. 9. 

A trio of men's athletes improved their personal-best efforts and etched their names into the program's indoor record book, while Tatyana Gibson picked up an individual victory to lead the way on the women's side.

In the men's shot put, Sean Myron secured a fifth-place finish out of 40 total throwers thanks to a top toss of 12.72 meters. His effort was also strong enough to rank second all-time in the event in program history. Fellow thrower Comlan Greg Acolitse finished sixth in the weight throw and his top launch of 12.90 meters currently ranks third all-time in the event in the program's record book. Distance runner Mohammed Sakayl was the third athlete to break into the top three of an event, with his time of 2:53.89 in the 1,000m proving strong enough to rank third all-time.

For the second straight week, Gibson had a strong outing in the 400m, winning the race of 20 total competitors thanks to her time of 1:02.35. Makayla Grace Weber also earned a top-five finish in the 400m, coming home fourth with a mark of 1:05.00. Leah Gray's stout start to the season also continued, as she earned a runner-up finish out of 34 total runners in the 60m with a time of 8.18 seconds before finishing seventh out of 41 total competitors in the 200m behind an effort of 27.90 seconds.

Angad Bhullar's 12.12-meter toss in the shot put secured him a top-10 finish in the field of 40 throwers, while Isaac Whitson's top leap of 12.50 meters in the triple jump earned him a sixth-place finish out of 16 jumpers. Paul Netland III came home fourth in the 60m hurdles behind a time of 8.73 seconds and Sean Hamby earned a fourth-place finish of his own in the 400m thanks to an effort of 53.68 seconds. 

The Lions will enjoy a month-long break before returning to action at Alvernia's Winter Invite on Saturday, Jan. 14.
