Track & Field Starts Outdoor Season Strong at Goucher

BALTIMORE - Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's track & field teams opened outdoor competition at the Mid-Atlantic/South Region Inter-Conference Meet hosted by Goucher on Friday evening, March 25. 

 

Alex White was one of the top performers on the men's side, recording the top leaps in both the high and long jump events, with an effort of 1.89 meters in the former 6.82 meters in the latter. His long jump mark currently ranks 16th in the country, while his high jump effort ranks 23rd in the nation. 

 

Throwers Angad Bhullar and Sean Myron etched their names in the men's program's record book thanks to their efforts in the shot put, discus throw, and javelin throw, respectively. Bhullar tossed the shot 11.66 meters to rank third all-time and threw the discus 36.97 meters to secure the third-best effort in program history. Myron's top toss of 52.05 meters in the javelin is good enough to rank 22nd in the country and third in Penn State Harrisburg history.

 

Ian Adams broke his own program record in the 5,000m by more than 20 seconds with a jaunt of 16:30.31, while teammate Mohammed Sakayl earned a spot in the record book in the event thanks to his time of 16:59.56. Uzee Ukattah was also strong in the 100m dash, with his time of 11.25 seconds earning him a second-place finish.

 

On the women's side, Tatyana Gibson won both the 1,500m and 800m events, with her jaunt of 5:11.45 in the former standing as a new program record. She earned the win in the 800m by more than 11 seconds thanks to her run of 2:32.28; a time good enough to rank second all-time in program history. 

 

Fellow rookie sensation Sammi Aromin also set a new program record in the 5,000m after winning the race with an effort of 20:42.44. Kyli Moon-Rumsey earned a fifth-place finish in the 200m dash with a jaunt of 28.22 seconds and Leah Gray had a nice sprint in the 100m dash, finishing sixth with a time of 13.52. 

 

The Lions will look to build off their strong start to the outdoor campaign when they return to action at Millersville next Saturday morning, April 2.
