Balanced Scoring Fuels Men's Basketball's Victory Over Berks

READING, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's basketball team got double-digit scoring efforts from six different players and rolled to a 91-66 road victory over conference foe Penn State Berks on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 27. 

 

Isaiah Eggleston had a team-high 16 points, going 7-for-8 from the field and perfect from the free throw line. Lance Douglas finished with 14 points and three steals, while Malik Holland added 12 points of his own. Nate Curry flirted with a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds and Isaiah Milien and Alex Leiba rounded out the double-digit scoring with 10 points each. 

 

Penn State Harrisburg (18-3, 8-0 United East) trailed 16-15 midway through the first half before they went on an impressive 21-0 run to turn the tide and quickly push the lead to 20 points. The series was sparked by a 3-pointer from Holland and included a slam from Eggleston, as well as a pair of jumpers from Curry and Milien. Dylan Moore also contributed to the sequence, as he made two free ones at the line and buried a shot from beyond the arc. 

 

With the visitors leading by 16 points heading into the second half, Eggleston converted a pair of free throws followed by back-to-back layups which allowed Penn State Harrisburg to continue to extend the advantage. As the final half went on, the visiting Lions forced Penn State Berks (3-15, 2-6 United East) into seven turnovers while shooting nearly 50 percent from the field. 

 

NOTABLES

- Eggleston racked up a team-high 16 points and added four rebounds and four assists off the bench. 

- Douglas tallied 14 points, a pair of rebounds, and three steals. 

- Curry finished one rebound shy of a double-double with 12 points and nine boards, while also dishing out seven assists. 

- Holland buried four shots from long range to total 12 points on the night and grabbed four rebounds. 

- Milien and Leiba netted 10 points apiece. 

- Donyae Baylor-Carroll did a bit of everything, as he dished out a team-high seven assists, had six points, and grabbed four rebounds. 

- The Penn State Harrisburg bench outscored the Penn State Berks reserves 39-16.

The Lions continue United East play when they travel to Washington, D.C. to face off against Gallaudet on Tuesday night, Jan. 30.
