Curry's Career Night Paces Men's Hoops In Win Over Wells

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Behind a career night from Nate Curry, Penn State Harrisburg's men's basketball team picked up a valuable 79-63 United East victory over conference foe Wells at the Capital Union Building on Friday night, Jan. 20.

 

Curry flirted with a triple-double, finishing with a career-high 29 points to go along with 11 rebounds and six assists. Isaiah Eggleston also posted a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards, while Zegary Scott III tallied 11 points and dished out seven assists.

 

After a back-and-forth beginning to the contest, the Lions (7-8, 4-2 United East) put together a 15-0 run midway through the first half to pull ahead 24-12 at the 8:13 mark. Back-to-back 3-balls from Malik Holland and Curry followed by an Alex Leiba layup stretched the advantage to 34-17 at the 4:06 mark and Chris Haynes beat the buzzer with a putback to make it 39-24 heading into halftime.

 

The Express (9-7, 4-3 United East) battled back early in the second half and used a spurt to pull to within six at 48-42 but Curry answered with a jumper before a Kyle Rhoden tip in pushed the lead back to 10 at the 12:23 mark. Scott scored the next five points to extend the advantage to 15 and while the visitors fought back to within 10 multiple times in the closing minutes, Penn State Harrisburg kept them at bay and closed out the victory with another Holland triple in the final seconds.
