isaiah eggleston looks to pass during a game against penn state abington in 2023

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's basketball team struggled to hit shots in a 61-52 loss to United East foe Penn State Abington at the Capital Union Building on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 7.

Isaiah Eggleston was the lone Penn State Harrisburg player to reach double figures with a team-high 13 points. Chase Robinson also added eight off the bench, while Alex Leiba, Malik Holland, and Isaiah Milien finished with six points apiece.

The Lions (5-7, 2-1 United East) kept things close despite a rough outing that saw the team shoot just 36.5 percent from the floor, 19.2 percent from beyond the arc, and 52.9 percent from the free throw line, but Penn State Abington (10-3, 4-0 United East) managed to convert late in the second half and escape with the win.

Following a Holland layup that put the home team in front 38-37 with 9:47 left to play, the visitors put together a 9-0 run over the ensuing 3:49 to pull ahead 46-38 with 5:58 remaining. Penn State Abington stretched its advantage to a dozen following a 3-ball at the 3:47 mark but the hometown Lions battled back and pulled to within six thanks to a Robinson layup with 1:16 left.

Unfortunately for the home team, three errant attempts combined with three free throws from the visiting Lions in the final minute thwarted the comeback effort.
