KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's basketball team has earned the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award for its success in the classroom during the 2021-22 season.

In order to earn the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, a men's basketball program must earn a team grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher after counting the GPAs of all players who competed during the 2021-22 campaign.

In addition to the team's efforts in the classroom this season, Penn State Harrisburg racked up a program-record 24 victories, won its second straight conference championship, and defeated No. 9 St. Joseph (Conn.) in the NCAA Tournament in March. The Lions received votes in the final D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll of the year for the second consecutive season.

In keeping with the program's academic success, players Brandon Coleman, Nate Curry, Donald Friday Jr., and Pedro Rodriguez were also named to the NABC Honors Court after carrying cumulative GPAs of 3.2 or higher as upperclassmen.
