Men's Basketball Grinds Out Victory Over Penn College

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's basketball team ground out a 79-61 victory over United East foe Penn College at the Capital Union Building on Wednesday night, Feb. 9.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (18-2, 11-1 United East) ran away with things in the second half to easily dispatch of Penn College (5-15, 5-8 United East) and complete the regular-season sweep of its conference foe on Wednesday night.

 

Brandon Coleman led the way with a game-high 22 points, while Nate Curry racked up 18 points and six rebounds. Donyae Baylor-Carroll finished with 12 points and six steals and Chris Haynes added 10 points off the bench.

 

After the Wildcats cut a double-digit deficit to just six points with 12:18 left to play, the Blue & White put together a 7-0 run sparked by a Haynes 3-ball and capped with a layup from Dylan Daniels with 9:17 remaining. Curry buried a triple to keep the momentum rolling, Coleman converted a couple of layups, and Baylor-Carroll pushed the advantage to 18 with a deep jumper from beyond the arc with 4:19 to go.

 

Things were tight midway through the first half but the Lions created some breathing room thanks to a 19-12 run heading into the break. Coleman was lights out during the crucial stretch, knocking down four 3-pointers before halftime.

- The Lions shot 48.4 percent from the floor and 41.9 percent from 3-point range.

- Penn College shot 48 percent from the field and 40 percent from beyond the arc.

- The Blue & White shot 85.7 percent from the foul line, while the Wildcats shot 75 percent from the stripe.

- Penn State Harrisburg won the rebounding battle 31-28.

- The home team scored 29 points off Penn College turnovers.
